Assignment detail
What a security guard assignment covers in Virginia
What the assignment covers
Unarmed uniformed officers supplied for fixed posts, gates, lobbies, patrols, fire watch and temporary assignments across Virginia. Every assignment runs on written post orders covering the duties, the route or post, the reporting format, who to call and in what order, and what ends the shift. Officers carry a phone or radio, a flashlight and a log, work from the client's site rules, and produce a shift report. NESF operates under Virginia DCJS license 11-6371.
When this is the right fit
This page is the general entry point. Construction projects are covered in more detail under Construction Site Security, fire protection impairments under Fire Watch, and questions about what unarmed officers may and may not do under Unarmed Security Officers. Short-notice and single-shift requests are handled through Temporary Security Guards and Same-Day Security Guards.
What to have ready
Have the site address, the start date and time, the hours and days of coverage, how many officers per shift, the expected duration, the duties for the post, reporting requirements, site access and parking, and a contact who can walk the site or brief the first officer.
Common questions
Questions about security guard in Virginia
Does NESF provide armed officers?
No. NESF provides unarmed security officers only. If your insurer, contract or risk assessment specifically requires armed personnel, NESF is not the right provider for that portion of the work and will say so rather than take the assignment. Many construction, fire watch, access control and property assignments are written for unarmed coverage, which is what NESF is licensed and staffed to deliver.
What licensing does NESF hold?
NESF operates as a private security services business licensed by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services under license number 11-6371. Officers are registered as required for unarmed security work in Virginia. If your project needs proof of licensing or insurance documentation for a prequalification package, request it when you call and it will be provided directly.
