Who we are

North Eastern Security Force (NESF) is a private security services business licensed by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, DCJS licence #11-6371, providing unarmed uniformed officers for construction site security and fire watch across Virginia. What this website collects

When you send a coverage or procurement request: your name, the company or organisation you are with, your phone number, your email address, the site address or locality, the type of coverage you need, when it starts, how many officers and for how long, and anything else you choose to type into the details box.

When you apply for a job: your name, phone number, email address, the locality you are in, whether you are able to travel, whether you are eighteen or over and authorised to work in the United States, whether you hold or have applied for a DCJS registration and its number, which shifts you can work, how you would get to a post, your work history, your answer about criminal convictions, any notes you add, a résumé if you attach one, and the name you type as a signature with the date and time you typed it. If you go on to the background check step, we record that you were shown the disclosure and what you answered.

Automatically, when any page is opened: the page requested, the page you arrived from, general device and browser information, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. We record a one-way cryptographic hash of your network address rather than the address itself, so it can be used to stop abuse of the forms but cannot be read back.

We do not ask for and do not want: your date of birth, your Social Security number, your salary history, your health information, a photograph, or your immigration status beyond a yes-or-no answer about work authorisation. Do not type any of these into a form on this site.

Why we hold it

To answer the request you sent, to prepare and price the work you asked about, to schedule and staff an assignment, to assess an application for employment, to keep the business records a licensed security business is required to keep, to detect and stop abuse of the forms, and to understand which pages of this website are useful.

We do not use any of it to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Who else sees it

Form submissions are delivered to [email protected] and stored in this website’s own database, which is hosted for us by our web hosting provider. Employment applications reach the same inbox; questions about an application, an accommodation or a job go to [email protected]. Email delivery, hosting, and the messaging platform that sends any text message are the only third parties that receive your information, they act on our instructions, and they may use it only to provide that service to us.

NESF does not sell personal information, and does not rent, trade or otherwise disclose it for anyone else’s marketing. We disclose it otherwise only where the law requires it — for example a court order, a lawful request from a regulator, or a duty under the Code of Virginia — and, where a client engages us, the operational details necessary to deliver the coverage they have asked for.

Voluntary self-identification, kept apart

An applicant may be invited to answer voluntary questions about race, ethnicity, sex, veteran status and disability. Those answers are optional, they are stored separately from the application, they are not shown on the screen anyone uses to review candidates, they are not included in any notification email, and they play no part in a hiring decision. Declining has no effect on an application.

How long we keep it

Coverage and procurement requests are kept while the enquiry is live and afterwards as part of our business records. Employment applications are kept for the period required of an employer of our kind and then removed. A record that you asked us to stop sending text messages is kept permanently — see the section below, because Virginia law is stricter than the federal rule on this point. Everything else is deleted when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for.

Cookies and measurement

This site uses a small amount of first-party measurement to count page views and form submissions and to join them together within a single visit. It does not run third-party advertising cookies and does not share a visitor identifier with an advertising network. Your browser’s Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are honoured where they are sent.

Security

Forms are served over HTTPS, submissions are checked for forgery before they are accepted, uploaded files are validated by content rather than by file name, and the pages that carry an application are sent with instructions not to be cached or stored by browsers or intermediaries. Application records are readable only by a signed-in administrator of this website. No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise; if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your information we will notify you as the law requires.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw a permission you gave us. Write to [email protected] — or [email protected] about an application — and tell us what you want done. We will ask enough to be sure it is you, and there is no charge.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under thirteen. The employment application asks whether you are eighteen or over because the work requires it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of the page changes with it. The text message section below is versioned separately, because the wording people agree to is stored with each consent record.
